CONTRACT JUNIOR DESIGNER

Fairly Modern is seeking a junior designer to support the lead designer with residential and commercial projects in Los Angeles. We are seeking a candidate with industry knowledge, design experience, innovative design concepts and creativity – all while keeping within the Fairly Modern aesthetic. This is a contract role with potential for long term project work.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist on projects from all phases of design through installment, including but not limited to: CAD drawings, sourcing, procurement, scheduling, and negotiating.

  • Work directly with the lead designer to create and present presentation boards to include CAD drawings, mood boards, FF&E, surface materials, color palettes, and lighting.

  • Generate plan specifications based on client needs and contract requirements.

  • Provide design support and administration during completion and execution of design concepts.

  • Source and work with outside vendors to procure and coordinate all furniture, fixtures, & accessories

  • Manage multiple projects at once.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4+ years of Interior Design Experience, preferably from a design specific firm.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or related field from an accredited school.

  • Proficient in AutoCAd, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Must have your own software and laptop for professional use.

  • Knowledge of furniture, finishes, materials, color selections, and specifications.

  • Knowledge of design requirements, construction methods and materials for high end residential environments.

  • Great ability to multitask, work independently as well as a team, fearless and ambitious.

  • Must be GREAT at follow through!

  • Reliable car and willing to travel (out of state travel a plus).

  • Ability to help haul heavy samples and small furniture items during presentations or installations.

  • Familiar with Los Angeles Design Stores, and the Pacific Design Center.

ASSISTANT INTERN

Seeking an assistant intern to help manage operations of retail and our candle line including inventory management, production, shipping, and promotions.

  • Manage and support stock levels for inventory needs

  • Fulfill Orders in store and online

  • Assist with production of our candle line

  • Manage workshop attendee schedule

  • Create social media content

  • Set up for workshops and private events

  • Ability to teach workshops a plus!

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Retail experience

  • Flexible schedule and ability to work weekends

  • Knowledge of Shopify a plus, but training available

  • Demonstrate outstanding customer service

  • Strong styling and merchandising skills

  • GREAT communication skills both verbal and written.

  • Must be dependable and timely.

  • Have exceptional time management skills.

  • Marketing experience and creative skills are a huge bonus!

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Quickbooks.

  • Must live in the Los Angeles area and have a dependable car

  • Ability to lift and mobilize large items, up to 50 lbs. while utilizing appropriate equipment and safety techniques.

HOURS + PAY

10-15 Hours per week with the opportunity to grow. Ideal candidate is available weekdays and/or weekends with pay based on experience.

WORKSHOP INSTRUCTORS

Seeking fun, bright, and enthusiastic individuals to assist with our candle making workshops. If you’re looking for something with a flexible schedule in a fun teaching environment – we’d love to hear from you!

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Setup and cleanup for parties of 2-12 people

  • Teaching experience and/or the ability to lead a class from existing curriculum

  • Manage workshop schedule

  • Ability to use Shopify for in-store retail purchases

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have great attitude with open mind.

  • Dependable transportation with the ability to run small errands.

  • Flexible schedule.

  • Teaching experience a huge bonus!

  • Attention to detail and enjoy elements of hosting.

HOURS + PAY

Training is required prior to start. Hours vary based on workshops booked. Pay is on a sliding scale per workshop.
